NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State softball team dropped a pair of games to SIUE to open Ohio Valley Conference play. The Tigers fell 7-1 in game one, before being stopped 9-0 in six innings in the night cap.
The Tigers were held in check at the plate on the day, as they garnered just four hits. TSU collected all their hits in game one as they scored a late inning run, while they were held hitless in the last game of the day.
Tassy Lyles registered her first extra base hit of her career with an RBI double in the sixth inning of game one to plate the lone run of the day for the Tigers.
Tori Hart suffered the loss in the opener, moving to 0-4, while Lauren Powell was tagged with the loss in game two and is now 2-13.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Tigers totaled four hits in game one.

- The Tigers were unable to take advantage of the base runner.
- The Cougars extended their lead to 7-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth.
- Whitney Ennis singled to open the sixth and was lifted in favor of Kierra Ware.
- Ware stole second base and moved to third on a groundout by Sarah Snell.
- Tassy Lyles drove a ball over the head of the centerfielder for a double to allow Ware to trot home.
- Trailing 7-1 in the seventh, Katie Schneider led off the final frame with a double to right center.
- The Tigers were only able to move pinch runner Ariel Johnson to third.
vs. GAME 2
- SIUE scored a pair of runs in each of the first two innings to build a 4-0 advantage.
- The Cougars added three in the fifth and two in the sixth, making the score 9-0.
- SIUE pitcher Corrina Rivas did not allow a base runner and fanned eight as she tossed a perfect game.
- Lauren Powell worked the first four innings before being relieved by Hart.
