Clarksville, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team fell to Austin Peay, 74-47, Thursday night in the Dunn Center.

Tennessee State got off to a slow start and struggled to find its offensive rhythm the entire night.

Tia Wooten led TSU in scoring with 14 points but was the only Lady Tiger to reach double-digits. Jazmine Young recorded a career-high eight rebounds in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The scored was tied 9-9 when Austin Peay used an 8-0 run to capture a 17-9 lead.
  • TSU used a timeout to halt the run but Austin Peay buried back-to-back three-pointers and made the score, 23-9.
  • A free-throw by Jasmine Broner ended TSU’s scoring drought to make the score, 23-10, in favor of APSU at the end of the first quarter.
  • TSU held Austin Peay to only two points through the first five minutes of the second quarter but the Lady Tigers couldn’t take advantage of the drought.
  • Neither team had a particularly strong quarter but APSU outscored TSU 7-6 in the period.
  • In the third frame, the teams traded buckets until the Govs used a 6-0 spurt to stretch their advantage to, 44-26.
  • After being outscored, 22-16, in the quarter, the score was, 52-32, heading into the final stanza.
  • TSU finished the game by outscoring APSU, 11-5, to close the gap to the final score.

GAME NOTES

  • Tia Wooten scored in double-digits for the 12th time this season.
  • TSU dropped its third straight to Austin Peay.
