NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State men's basketball team fell to the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in a nail-biting 69-62 loss Saturday evening in the Gentry Center.

Nashville-native Tripp Davis led the Tigers for the fourth time this season scoring 19 points, (11-of-12) from the free throw line and (2-of-6) from three-point distance.

Two Tigers, who sat out last season, recorded career-highs, including Dave Morris, a redshirt-freshman guard from Erie, Pennsylvania, with 14 points and DaJion Henderson, a redshirt-junior forward, with seven points.

The Gamecocks shot 22-of-28 from the charity stripe, which would turn into game-deciding trips as TSU shot 18-of-20 from the line. 

The Tigers close its OVC opening weekend 0-2, moving to 3-11 on the season.

  • Two Tigers scored in double-digits: Tripp Davis 19 and Dave Morris a career-high 14.

  • Damarri Moore made his first start for TSU and put the Tigers on the board.
  • Stokley Chaffee, Jr. first dunk of the night, decreasing the Gamecock lead to just two.
  • TSU shoot 57 percent through the first eight minutes of the half.
  • Halftime JSU leads 34-25.
  • Technical fouls were called on Jacksonville State allowing Tripp Davis to put four points on the board for TSU.
  • Three from Tripp Davis gives TSU the lead.
  • Late trips to the charity stripe helped JSU increase its lead to seven.
    • JSU's final eight points were made at the free throw line.

  • In the all-time series against Jacksonville State, the Tigers are now 19-14, 14-3 at home in the Gentry Center.
  • Daniel Cummings made his first start of the season, fifth start of his career against the Gamecocks.
  • Damarri Moore makes his first start after playing in 12-of-13 games so far this season.
