NASHVILLE --- Despite getting off to a solid start, the Tennessee State University women's basketball team fell to Vanderbilt, 106-55, Monday night in the Gentry Center.
TSU (1-4) hosted Vanderbilt (5-1) on campus for the first time since 1991.
The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by freshman Deaja Richardson's 14 points while Jazmine Young finished with 12.
VU had five players score in double-digits led by LeaLea Carter's 20 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- TSU came out strong against the SEC opponent and trailed by only, 21-16, after the first quarter.
- The Lady Tigers continued to battle and managed to cut the deficit to 23-20 early in the second frame.
- The momentum shifted, however, as the Commodores used an overwhelming, 19-0, run to take control of the game and open the score up to, 42-20.
- Megan Kent ended TSU's seven-minute scoring drought with a bucket in the paint.
- TSU was outscored, 29-11, in the second period.
- In the third stanza, the game was scoreless through the first two minutes of action.
- VU got on the board first and posted six straight points before a TSU timeout.
- TSU could not dig itself out of the hole.
GAME NOTES
- Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 16-2.
- Taylor Roberts didn't score in double-digits for the first time this season after limited minutes.
