Jacksonville, Ala. --- Stokley Chaffee, Jr. scored a career-high 17 points in Saturday night's 84-65 loss to Jacksonville State in the Pete Mathews Coliseum.

A slow start by the Tigers proved fatal as the Gamecocks' shooting accuracy and volume, especially in the paint, cruised the conference-leaders to a 37-20 score as both teams entered the locker rooms. Jax State's leading scorer Burnell had 15 points in 19 minutes.

Big Blue outscored its first half efforts for the fifteenth time this season, this half, keeping up with the Gamecocks, finishing just two points under JSU, 47-45.

In the second half, Kamar McKnight (12), Tripp Davis (12) and Big Blue's leading scorer Chaffee, Jr. (15) pulled out double-digit performances.

TSU moves into the final two weeks of conference play 8-18, 5-9 in the Ohio Valley Conference, and tied for seventh.
