NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State struggled to score runs on Sunday afternoon at Tiger Field versus the visiting UT Martin in a pair of Ohio Valley Conference double headers. The Tigers fell to 0-4 in conference play, falling 6-2 and 5-0 to the Skyhawks.

TSU matched UTM with eight hits in game one, but stranded nine runners in game one. The Tigers trailed 5-0 in the fourth before getting on the scoreboard. Maddison Clark crossed home plate as Savanah Wallace was hit by pitch with bases loaded.

An inning later, the Tigers cut the lead to three as Bri Vire scored on a double steal attempt. That would be as close as the Big Blue would get as UTM added another run in the sixth to produce the final score.

Raven Loveless (4-5) was charged with the loss as she gave up five runs, three earned, on seven hits in four innings of work. Jessina Espinoza tossed the final three innings and surrendered an unearned run on one hit.

TSU was unable to string hits together in game two against Skyhawks pitcher Caitlin Karo (5-2). The Tigers put five runners on base over the first three innings, but was unable to push any across home plate to trail 2-0.

UTM continued its offensive attack, adding three runs over the next two innings, while keeping TSU in check.

Espinoza (0-3) took the loss as she worked the first two innings. The freshman hurler gave up a run as she issued three walks and a hit. Kennedy McCurry tossed the final five innings and was touched for four runs, three earned, on eight hits and a walk, while striking out three.

Up Next: The Tigers will step out of conference play to face Middle Tennessee at Tiger Field on Wednesday, Mar. 27. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
