MURRAY, Ky.
--- Sarah Snell singled to left in the top of the eighth inning in game one to propel Tennessee State to an Ohio Valley Conference split at Murray State. The Snell single gave the Tigers a 2-1 win in the opener, before dropping the night cap 7-1.

Megan Huppee earned a one out walk and was then replaced on the base paths by Kierra Ware. Two batters later, Bri Vire registered the second of four hits on the day to move Ware into scoring position. Snell wasted no time as she ripped a single into left allowing Ware to cross home plate ahead of the throw.

Murray State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Tigers were held hitless until earned her first hit of the day in the top of the fourth inning. Snell laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Vire up 60 feet. After Reese Weber was hit by a pitch, Katie Schneider singled down the right field line. The Racers defender mishandled the ball allowing Vire to scamper home to even the score at 1-1.

Pitcher Raven Loveless worked all eight innings to secure the win to improve to 5-5. The freshman hurler scattered 10 hits and a walk while striking out two batters.

The Racers scored in the first inning for the second consecutive game. Starter Tori Hart held the Racers in check until allowing three base runners in the fifth inning. Freshman Kennedy McCurry replaced Hart in the circle and was touched for three runs on four hits.

Schneider provided the loan run by hammering a solo home run over the fence in left center in the sixth inning to make the score 5-1. The Racers added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to provide the final score.

Hart was tagged with the loss and is now 0-1 on the season.

Vire led the way at the plate with two hits in each game. Weber finished 2-for-4 in game two while Snell and Schneider both tallied a hit in each game.

Snell earned a walk in the back end of the double header to give her 64 in her career. The total is one shy of Brittany Webb's (2008-11) TSU record of 65. The junior also recorded the third highest amount of assists in a game at the NCAA DI level this season with nine in the opener.

Up Next: The Tigers travel to Clarksville, Tenn. to face Austin Peay for an Ohio Valley Conference play double header on Sunday afternoon.
