TSU Drops Home Contest to Morehead State

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State University women's basketball team suffered an, 84-47, loss to Morehead State Thursday night in the Gentry Center.

Tennessee State got off to a slow start but battled back to within six early in the second quarter. The Lady Tigers, however, went cold and got outscored, 20-3, in the rest of the period.

After trailing 45-23 at halftime, TSU continued to play from behind and never managed to get back into the game.

Jaden Wrightsell led TSU with 11 points while Megan Kent tallied a team-best ten rebounds on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • TSU got off to a slow start and fell behind, 19-4.
  • The Lady Tigers gathered a little momentum behind a 7-0 run that made the score, 19-12, in favor of Morehead State.
  • The visitors had a 25-17 edge at halftime.
  • Tennessee State closed the gap down to six points early in the second period but the momentum then shifted to Morehead State.
  • TSU only managed to score a total of six points in the second frame and fell into a 45-23 hole.
  • The Lady Tigers never recovered.
