NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State University women's basketball team suffered a, 100-62, loss to Murray State Thursday night in the CFSB Center.

After struggling in the opening quarter, TSU (2-16, 0-8 OVC) fell into an early deficit and never managed to get out of the hole.

Jaden Wrightsell led TSU with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds while Ashley Primas recorded 11 and Amber Appiah-Kubi scored a career-high 10 points.

Murray State (9-10, 2-6 OVC) had five players score in double-digits.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The score was 8-6 in favor of Murray State when the TSU offense went cold in the opening quarter.
  • The Racers went on a 12-1 run to jump ahead, 20-7.
  • After ten minutes of action, TSU trailed 31-11. The Lady Tigers shot 22.2 percent (4-of-18) from the field and committed six turnovers in the period.
  • The offense picked up for TSU in the second stanza.
  • Back-to-back buckets from Jaden Wrightsell forced a Murray State timeout and TSU went on to outscore the opponent, 24-20, in the quarter.  
  • TSU cut the MSU advantage down to 16 points and trailed 51-35 at halftime.
  • Two quick scores from the Racers to start the third quarter increased the lead back up to 20 points.
  • TSU got outscored 30-15 in the third period and trailed, 81-50, heading into the fourth.

  • Murray State now leads the series, 35-25.
  • Jaden Wrightsell registered the fifth double-double of her career.
  • Amber Appiah-Kubi scored a career-high 10 points.
  • Ashley Primas scored in double-digits for the second time this season.
