JACKSONVILLE, Ala. --- A minute left in regulation and the Tigers are up by four. Shakem Johnson notched his third foul to send Darian Adams to the line for two, he makes one. Thirty-four seconds. Brandon Huffman lays one in. Five seconds. Brandon Huffman lays another in. Jacksonville State leads by one. With time for just one play, Freeman dribbles to half court, dishes to Marcus Fitzgerald, Jr. on the wing. The buzzer sounds with the ball still in his hands. Jacksonville State defeats the Tigers on the road, 65-64.

  • Neither team shot very well at the start, TSU shooting 2-for-8, and JSU, 1-for-4.
  • The Tigers were up 10-5 with 12 minutes left in the first period.
  • Moody sank a corner three in transition, then a forced turnover led to a fast break layup assisted by Monty Johal.
  • An 8-0 run after a two-minute scoring drought moved the Gamecocks within six after the Tigers worked their way to a 14-point lead.
  • Devonte Lanier closed the Tigers' near-four minute scoring lull, 27-23.
  • At the half, TSU held its lead 30-27 with a three-point play in the final thirty seconds.
  • Shakem Johnson kicked off the second half with a jumper and scored the next two Tiger points with the first dunk of the night.
  • The Gamecocks stole the first lead of the night with a trey ball, 39-38.
  • A slew of great plays gave the Tigers some space moving into the second media timeout. A Moody three, followed by a steal led to a Freeman and-one. Freeman misses the extra point, but makes up for it with a three-point shot in the clutch. TSU up 50-40.
  • Two trips to the charity stripe gave TSU three points after four minutes of action without a field goal.
  • Brandon Huffman closed out the night with two layups, allowing JSU to add another to its win column.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Ravel Moody led the team in scoring for the second time this season, notching a career high 24 points.
  • The Gamecocks improve to 16-20 in the all-time series against TSU.
  • JSU ended TSU's two-game win-streak over the Gamecocks with the 65-64 win.
  • This marks Marcus Fitzgerald, Jr's fifth-straight game with double digit scoring.
  • TSU is now 6-13 in the all-time series in Jacksonville, Alabama.
