GAMEDAY
The Tennessee State men's basketball continues its road swing to close out January at Austin Peay Saturday, Jan. 30. Tip on ESPN+ and the Big Blue Sports Network is set for 4 p.m. in the Dunn Center, following the Lady Tigers game.

A victory on Tuesday would mark the 31st win for head coach Brian "Penny" Collins.

LAST TIME OUT
Welcome back Mark Freeman. After a two-game absence due to injury, the point guard returned to the court against Murray State Thursday night with a 22-point performance in the 73-53 loss on the road.

Murray State's KJ Williams led the game with 25 points, 16 rebounds, followed closely by Debin Gilmore with 12 points and Chico Carter with 10.

LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE GOVS
The Tennessee State men's basketball team completed its 2020 slate at home in the Gentry Center with a loss to Austin Peay, 68-59, Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Down just two at halftime, a slew of scoring droughts and the Govs' ability to pull down offensive rebounds for second-chance points led to the Tigers' third league defeat.

Marcus Fitzgerald Jr., who heard his name in the starting lineup for the first time as a collegiate athlete, led the Tigers in scoring with 13. Fitzgerald was the sole Tiger to score double digits, while three Governors notched double digits, led by Reginald Gee with 20.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Since visiting the Gentry Center a month ago, the Govs have gone 2-3 in conference play with three matchups postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. The team is on a two-game losing streak after suffering losses to Jacksonville State and Belmont at home.

Terry Taylor continues to lead the league in scoring, averaging 21.4 points, 10.9 rebounds and has recently been named to two mid-season award watch lists and become a finalist for the Jerry West Award.
