NASHVILLE — The Tennessee State University volleyball team returns to action this weekend (Friday and Saturday) to host OVC leader Austin Peay.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
>> Tennessee State is looking to snap a five-game losing streak after another five-set deficit against Belmont on Tuesday.
>> TSU is 2-3 this season in games that go the distance. The three victories came against Trevecca Nazarene and UT Arlington.
>> Senior Gina Rivera-Ortiz broke the TSU all-time digs record on Tuesday after recording 27 digs against Belmont. Rivera-Ortiz now has 1,709 career digs. Rivera-Ortiz is third in the NCAA win digs per set (5.91) and fourth in total digs with 390.
>> Senior Aniya Williams is fourth in the OVC averaging 4.14 points per set. Williams has 213 kills, 17 service aces, 71 total blocks and 61 assists.
SCOUTING THE GOVS
>> Austin Peay enters the contest atop the OVC with a 5-1 record. The Govs lead the OVC with a .228 hitting percentage.
>> Brooke Moore leads the Govs in kills (259), digs (226) and ser-vice aces (22) this season and is among the top-10 in the OVC in each category.
>> Mikayla Powell is last weeks OVC Newcomer of the Week after recording 37 kills (3.08/set) and a .264 attack percentage during the Govs' three matches last week.
