NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season to the Kansas Jayhawks, 83-60, at the Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas.
FIRST HALF | Lacy Robins was an all-around player as she posted a team-leading nine points (4-of-5 from the field), two rebounds and two assists in only 10 minutes of play.
Sierra McCullough grabbed five rebounds, which tied the game-high in the opening stanza.
Dominique Claytor registered five points, four rebounds and two assists.
Robins and KU's Holly Kersgieter received double techs for a minor exchange with 26 seconds left in the second quarter. It was Kersgieter's second technical of the day, therefore the junior guard was ejected from the contest prior to halftime. |

SECOND HALF | To begin the third quarter, the Jayhawks went on a 10-0 run to extend their lead at home. KU's Aniya Thomas drained two three-pointers during the scoring stretch. Thomas totaled 13 second-half points, leading to a game-high 19 points. TSU went 2-for-14 in the third quarter as they were outscored 22-9.
Gia Adams, a freshman guard from Houston, Texas, filled up the stat sheet in the fourth quarter with two points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals.

INSIDE THE STATS:
- Gia Adams led the team with 12 points, along with three rebounds and three assists.
- North Florida transfer, Elise Harden, grabbed a team-high seven rebounds for TSU.
- The Jayhawks controlled the paint as they out-scored Tennessee State, 44-18.
- Kansas registered 25 points off the fast break compared to the Tigers' four in transition.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Tennessee State was undefeated prior to the contest; after three games, the Tigers are averaging 74.7 points per game.
- Adams has scored at least 11 points in all three games, averaging 13.3 points per game.
- TSU shot a season-high 29 three-point attempts in the contest.
