NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State men's basketball team begins their road trip with a meeting at South Dakota on Sunday afternoon.

Series History: This will be the first meeting between the two programs.

Last Time Out for USD: South Dakota secured a victory on Friday night, 71-68, over Southern. USD has won 14 of its last 15 home openers dating back to 2007. Xavier Fuller recorded a game-high 20 points while Erik Oliver added 11 points off the bench. The Coyotes went 3-for-15 from three-point range but made the most of their opportunity at the free-throw line, converting on 24-of-33.
Battle of Jefferson St.: The 55-point blowout, 111-56, over Fisk was the second largest victory in the series history. In 1993, TSU defeated Fisk by 91 points, 148-57. The Tigers have scored at least 99 points in the last three meetings against the crosstown rival.
What Can "Brown" Do for You? Georgia transfer,
Christian Brown, swiped a career-high four steals against Fisk. The 6-6 forward is ranked second on the team in points (37) and steals (4), while he leads the team in free-throws made (10-for-15).
Home Cookin': Dating back to the '19-20 season, the Coyotes are 21-4 in Vermillion, S.D. South Dakota has only lost two games at home in each of the last two years.
Core Plus Four: South Dakota returns 11 players from last year's roster, while they welcome four newcomers to the team. Erik Oliver, a transfer from Laramie County CC in Cheyenne, Wyo., is the only non-freshman newcomer.
