NASHVILLE — The Tennessee State women's basketball team is set to play Stetson on Sunday morning in the finale of the Hatter Classic.

SERIES INFORMATION: Sunday's weekend finale will be the second meeting between TSU and Host Stetson. The Lady Tigers leads 1-0 after defeating the Hatters during the 2016 version of the Hatter Classic. Olivia Jones led the Lady Tigers with 17 points and eight rebounds in the win. Jones would be named event MVP for her efforts in TSU's wins.
UP NEXT: Ohio Valley Conference play begins on December 30, as the Lady Tigers host Tennessee Tech at the Gentry Center. Tennessee Tech holds a 61-13 advantage over TSU in the all-time series record and have won the last seven matchups against the Lady Tigers. The first meeting took place on Feb. 21, 1965. TSU lost the first 19 contests to the Golden Eagles before a win in 1994. TSU travels to Cookeville on Feb. 24.
COVID CANCELATION: The first of two games for TSU at the Hatter Classic was canceled on Saturday due to COVID-19 protocols within the VCU team. The Rams played on Friday against Stetson in the opener of the classic. No makeup is scheduled.
DEFENSE LEADS TO VICTORY: TSU's 50-49 win on Wednesday against Lipscomb is due in part to 3 the Bison turning the ball over 30 times with 15 steals by the Lady Tigers. TSU capitalized with 24 points off turnovers.
