RICHMOND, Ky. --- Tennessee State was held to four hits on Monday afternoon as they dropped the final game of the Ohio Valley Conference series, 5-0.

Starter Lauren Powell tossed a complete game, falling to 3-8 on the year. Powell gave a run in the third inning, two in the fourth and two in the sixth. The Colonels scored the five runs on 11 hits and a walk while striking out six times.

The hits for the Tigers were scattered as Renae Spears singled in the second, Kayli Mothershed doubled in the third and Analeigh Coursey earned a pinch hit single in the fifth. The final hit came off the bat of Anayah Baker-Rowell with one out in the seventh.

GAME 3
  • The Tigers picked up a single by Renae Spears in the second and a double in the third by Kayli Mothershed.
  • M'Lei Woodard pinch ran for Mothershed and was cut down at home on a ground out double play by Bri Vire.
  • The scoring opportunity turned out to be the closest the Tigers would get on the day.
  • EKU responded with a run in the third and two in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead.
  • The Colonels drove in two additional insurance runs in the sixth to make the score 5-0.

The Tigers will step out of conference for a doubleheader at No. 19 Tennessee on Wednesday.

  • The Tigers wore their blue jerseys with white pants and blue socks.
  • The game was the fifth of a 12-game road trip.
  • Lauren Powell started in the circle for the 77th time of her career.
