CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. --- Tennessee State dropped the series finale to Austin Peay on Sunday afternoon in Clarksville. The pitcher's duel went in favor of the hometown Governors, 4-0.

Lauren Powell allowed just four hits on the day, but those knocks drove in all the runs the Govs would need. Powell sat down the first seven batters she faced, but two hits, a fielder's choice and a pair of stolen bases produced two runs in the third.

The redshirt-senior did not surrender another hit until the sixth when the first two APSU hitters collected hits and came around to score.

The TSU offense came out aggressive as they earned leadoff singles in each of the first two innings. Anayah Baker-Rowell opened the contest with a single to deep shortstop, but was a part of the first of two APSU double plays.

Kayli Mothershed singled off the glove of the Govs third baseman and was lifted in favor of pinch runner M'Lei Woodard to begin the second. Two pitches later, Woodard was thrown out trying to steal second base.

The Tigers continued to put pressure on with a pair of runners in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively. In the fifth, Ivory Jones and Lauren Farias reached on back-to-back one out walks. Austin Peay ended the threat with its second twin killing of the game as Analeigh Coursey ripped a line drive to the Govs first baseman who proceded to tag out Farias to end the inning.

Powell struck out five batters on the day as she fell to 3-10 on the season.
