MURRAY, Ky. — The Tennessee State women's basketball team team dropped its first OVC contest of the season on the road at Murray State, 76-62, on Thursday evening.
The loss snaps TSU's six-game winning streak and four-game unbeaten streak in the OVC.
Gia Adams led the Lady Tigers with 22 points on 8-of-16 from the field.
Sierra McCullough and
Dominique Claytor each finished in double figures with McCullough adding eight rebounds to her line.
The Lady Tigers led 35-32 at the half but Murray State inched back in the third before attacking in the fourth quarter. The Racers outscorred TSU 25-12 in the final 10 minutes after they used a 13-0 run to start the final stanza.
Caitlin Young led Murray State with 22 points and seven rebounds.
The foul discrepancy played a factor in the contest with TSU committing 25 fouls to Murray State's nine. The Racers went to the line 33 times with 24 freebees compared to TSU only getting 13 free attempts for 10 points.
The Lady Tigers will sit idle for until next Thursday when they visit SEMO. The postponed Morehead State game has been moved to January 31 at 5 p.m. at the Gentry Center.
