Men's Basketball Hosts UT Martin on ESPNews This Thursday

Last Time out for TSU: Tennessee State dominated Campbellsville-Harrodsburg, 108-66, at the Gentry Center last Tuesday (12/21). It was the second time this year that TSU has eclipsed the century mark. Carlos Marshall Jr. posted a career-high 26 points on 8-of-14 from the field, including a season-high 5-of-11 from deep.  All 11 players scored at least three points while five players totaled double-digit points. Samford transfer, Jalen Dupree, logged his first double-double as a Tiger. The graduate transfer from Cordova tallied 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Makeup Dates Set: After two postponements last week, the Tennessee State men's basketball team is back in action on Thursday. The two rescheduled games have been set with TSU hosting Tennessee Tech on Jan. 17 and visiting Morehead State on Jan. 24.

Last Time out for UT Martin: UT Martin took care of business in its first OVC game with a 65-62 win over Austin Peay on December. 30. The Skyhawks have sat idle since that contest as their Jan.1 meeting with SIUE was postponed to Jan. 24. KJ Simon led the team with 26 points and four blocks. Bernie Andre added 14 points and nine rebounds while Mikel Henderson had 12 points and five assists. Chris Nix pulled down seven rebounds but was held to just two points. UTM shot 44 percent from the field and nearly half its points inside the paint.

Two Letter Leaders: KJ Simon and KK Curry lead UT Martin in scoring this season, with Simon averaging 18.2 points and Curry at 12.3 points per game. Simon has reached double figures in all 13 games this season with his season-best of 30 points at UNC Ashville on Dec. 14. Curry has reached double figures in seven games with a season-best 24 points vs. North Dakota.

Block Party: The Tigers swatted a season-high eight shots in the previous contest against Campbellsville-Harrodsburg. It was the second time this year in which TSU has recorded at least six blocks. Six players tallied a block in the 42-point victory.

Charity Stripe: Emmanuel Dowuona posted a season-high 13 points, the first time in double-digits for the Purdue transfer. He converted 9-of-11 at the free throw line while he added seven rebounds and two blocks.

Puuurfect: The Tigers' veteran, Shakem Johnson, shot 100% from the field in the victory over Campbellsville-Harrodsburg. The senior from Youngstown, Ohio went 8-for-8 from the field, totaling a season-high 16 points.
