Tigers Drop 3-0 Sweep to Lindenwood (MO)

SAINT CHARLES, MO --The Tennessee State Tiger volleyball team could not out-play a strong Lindenwood attack Saturday on the road falling in three sets (25-27, 21-25, 15-25).

The loss dropped Tennessee State's record to 9-14 overall and 3-7 in OVC play.

Johanna Alcantara finished with 13 kills on the day to lead the Tiger offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .353. Defensively, TSU had two players reach double figures in digs as Gina Rivera-Ortiz had 15 and Sofia Garcia-Guerrios had 10.

SET 1 | The Tigers fell in a tight first set, losing 27-25 in a game that was tied seven times and had three lead changes. Lindenwood's late surge at the end of the set to overcome

SET 2 | Tennessee State fell in the second set 25-21, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. Lindenwood (MO) grabbed the advantage for good at 12-11 in a set that was tied up six times before the Lions took over the lead.

SET 3 | Lindenwood (MO) finished the sweep with a set-three win. The Tigers lost a tough set 25-15. Tennessee State trailed by as many as 10 points as Lindenwood (MO) grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 in a set that was tied up six times before the Lions took over the lead. Johanna Alcantara converted six kills in the set. 

Next up: TSU will be back at home for a weekend series against SIEU on October 21 and 22.
