TSU will welcome Southeast Missouri to the Music City, which has yet to lose an OVC matchup this Saturday for their first of two final OVC contests. Both teams are coming off losses, as SEMO fell to Eastern Kentucky 28-23 this past weekend.

SERIES INFORMATION:Â The Tigers and the Redhawks have met 29 times with TSU being 14-15 all-time against SEMO. The two teams first met in 1991 with SEMO taking the first matchup 37-34. TSU picked up their first win in the series one year later in 1992, and then went on to drop four straight from 1993-1996 before winning five straight from 1997-2001. The Tigers last took down SEMO in 2017 as they won 23-20.Â

SCOUTING SEMO: The Redhawks come into this weekend's OVC matchup with an overall 6-2 record and a 2-0 record in the OVC. After dropping their first game of the season to Iowa State, SEMO reeled off six straight wins, including a 34-31 win over #17 SIU to start their winning streak. This past weekend the Redhawks fell to Eastern Kentucky 29-23 for their second loss of the season. SEMO comes in averaging 34.71 points per game while giving up 25.86 points per game. The Redhawks have tallied 3,378 total yards of offense on the season (2,021 passing) and (1,457 rushing) while scoring 29 total touchdowns. Running back Geno Hess leads the team with 795 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, while quarterback Paxton DeLaurent has accumulated 222 yards and two scores on the ground. DeLaurent has tossed 16 touchdowns through the air on 155-of-250 passing for 2017 yards. Johnny King has caught 50 passes for five scores, while Ryan Flournoy has tallied 42 grabs for six touchdowns.

Jalen Rouse has totaled this season. Rouse finished with 106 all-purpose yards (84 rushing, 22 receiving), against Murray State to finish with his fourth 100+ all-purpose yardage game. The Georgia native first crossed the century mark against Lane College as he tallied 131 total yards (109 rushing, 22 receiving). The sophomore has rushed for 473 yards this season while also adding 148 yards through the air to total 621 all-purpose yards this season. Â Â
20: The number of total sacks the TSU defense has collected this year. Last year George's team only collected 19 sacks throughout 11 games. The TSU defense will have three more chances to add to that total sack number this season.

MR. RELIABLE: JJ Holloman has emerged as
Draylen Ellis's top target over the past few weeks, as the Senior transfer has separated himself in the team lead for total catches and yards. The Georgia native has hauled in 18 passes for 212 yards and one touchdown in his last three games. Holloman leads the team with 27 catches for 294 yards and is tied for second on the team with one receiving touchdown. He is averaging 10.9 yards per catch. His 27 catches this season surpasses his career high of 24 he had as a sophomore at Georgia in 2018.

D IS KEY: The Tennessee State football defense, led by second-year defensive coordinator
Brandon Fisher ranks first in the OVC in scoring defense. The Tiger defensive has allowed a league-low 25 touchdowns and is allowing a conference-low of 24.5 points per game. In addition to having the best scoring defense, TSU also leads the league in total defense, as they have allowed a league-low 2774 yards.

SCARY TERRAY: Senior defensive lineman
Terray Jones has matched his career high for tackles in a season with 28, after notching a season-high eight tackles against Murray State this past Saturday. Terray has recorded 28 tackles this season 10 solo, 18 assists, two sacks, and 3.5 tackles for loss. In 34 career games, the senior has tallied 80 career tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks in his four-year career. Â Â

BREAK IT UP BRYCE: First-year Tiger
Bryce Phillips has been a solid addition to
Brandon Fisher's defense this year at the cornerback position after transferring from Santa Anna College. Phillips leads TSU cornerbacks' with 27 total tackles on the year, while also holding the team lead in pass breakups with eight. The freshman has had three games where he has broken up two passes. Phillips's eight breakups are tied for the 7
th most in the FCS and are tied for the 2
nd most in the OVC.
