Volleyball Drops Four Set Match to Morehead State

MOREHEAD, KY --The Tennessee State volleyball team fell to the Morehead State Eagles in four sets (13-25, 20-25, 26-24, 15-25) Thursday on the road at Johnson Arena.

The loss dropped Tennessee State's record to 8-11 overall and 2-4 in OVC action.

Celestial Miller finished with 11 kills on the day to lead the Lady Tigers offense. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Gina Rivera-Ortiz had 27 and Login Williams had 11.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Tigers found themselves in an early hole, dropping a tough first set 25-13. Tennessee State trailed by as many as 12 points as Morehead State never surrendered the lead in a set that was notted up two times before the Eagles took control.

SET 2 | A 25-20 set-two loss put Tennessee State in a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Tigers fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before dropping the set.

SET 3 | After losing sets one and two, Tennessee State fought back to take set three and make it a 2-1 match. The Tigers persevered in a back-and-forth set to win 26-24 in a stanza that featured three lead changes and was tied eight times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than three points along the way. The Tennessee State offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza. Tennessee State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Morehead State attacks in the stanza.

SET 4 | Tennessee State couldn't keep the rally going and lost in set four 25-15 to drop the match. The Tigers fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before losing the set.

The Tigers will be back in action Friday night against Morehead State. First serve will be 5 p.m..
