MARTIN, Tenn — Trailing by 11 points after the first quarter, the Tennessee State women's basketball team was unable to muster a full comeback in a 55-46 loss to UT Martin on Saturday afternoon at the Elam Center.
Gia Adams led the Lady Tigers with 11 points and was the lone scorer in double figures.
TSU trailed 29-21 at the half and used a 9-1 run to begin the third quarter and tied the game on a jumper by Saniah parker with 6:08 left in the frame.
UT Martin answered with a 9-0 run of its own and regained a 39-30 advantage — a lead it would not relinquish.
In the fourth, TSU once again attempted a comeback but cut the deficit to a single possession (43-40) after Adams knocked down a pair from the line.
UT Martin finished the contest on a 12-6 run after Adams' free throws.
Seygan Robins led the Skyhawks with 11 points.
TSU will host Murray State on Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m.
