NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State softball team fell in game three of the weekend series against Tennessee Tech.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 1ST: Tennessee Tech's Mackenzie Fitzgerald led off the game with a single up the middle and advanced to second with a stolen base. After walks to Carmen Betts and Sydney Dukes, Sydney Love-Baker laid down a bunt to drive in the first run of the game. With runners at second and third, Savannah Talley extended the lead with a two-run double. ||
TTU, 3-0
BOT 4TH: To lead off the frame,
Anayah Baker laced a double to center field, used aggressive baserunning attempting to stretch a triple and scored after a throwing error by the center-fielder. With two outs,
Mikayla Duke singled to right field and moved to second after a walk to
Kayli Mothershed. After a hit-by-pitch to load the bases,
Marisa Mauroschadt scolded a groundball to center field to score
Duke. ||
TTU 3-2
TOP 6TH: After a pitching change for TSU, Shelby Penning reached on an infield single. With two outs and a runner at third, Fitzgerald increased the advantage with an RBI single. ||
TTU, 4-2
TOP 7TH: To lead off the final inning, Haeli Bryson reached on a fielding error by TSU. After a double from Dukes, Love-Baker dropped down another bunt to score Bryson from third. ||
TTU. 5-2
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Five different Tigers registered a base knock in the contest.
- Anayah Baker increased her team-lead in extra-base hits with a double this afternoon.
- Marisa Mauroschadt went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- The Tigers have struck out less than three times in the last three games, only the second time this season.
- Tennessee Tech swiped five bases in the contest, setting a season-high for the Golden Eagles.
UP NEXT: Tennessee State will host on Belmont on Wednesday afternoon for a mid-week doubleheader, with first pitch scheduled for 2:00pm at Tiger Field.
