NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University volleyball closed out the 2022 Tiger Invitational with two more wins on the day to finish the tournament a perfect 4-0. The Tigers knocked off Alcorn State University this morning 3-0, followed by a 3-1 win over North Alabama this afternoon.
GAME ONE: TSU 3, ASU 0
TSU got the job done in straight sets (25-8, 25-7, 25-19) to knock off the
Alcorn State Lady Braves Saturday at home at Kean Hall Gymnasium.
The out-of-conference victory boosted the Lady Tigers' overall record to 5-7 on the season.

Alcantara finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Lady Tigers attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .529. got 17 digs from
Gina Rivera-Ortiz along with eight blocks from
Kennedy Davis to lead them defensively.

SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Tennessee State put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-7 victory in set number two. The Tigers scored first and never trailed in the set to earn the victory. Tennessee State opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 18 points, to finish off the set. The TSU volleyball team racked up 67 kills on the way to a four-set win (25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19) against the North Alabama Lions Saturday at home at Kean Hall Gymnasium in the final game of the 2022 Tiger Invitational.
The out-of-conference win improved the Lady Tigers' overall record to 6-7 on the season, as they have now won four straight.
The Tigers attack was paced by
Johanna Alcantara, who finished with 22 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .304, and by
Celestial Miller, who had 17. Defensively, TSU had three players reach double figures in digs, including
Gina Rivera-Ortiz's 29, 18 from
Login Williams, and 11 more from
Hadley Pride.

Tennessee State never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 9-8 in a set that showcased two lead changes before the Tigers took over the lead. Tennessee State also supplemented their offense with four aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | Tennessee State took the second set 25-20 to quickly jump to a 2-0 lead. The Tigers never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that showcased two lead changes before the Tigers took over the lead. The TSU offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | North Alabama avoided a sweep with a third-set victory to make it a 2-1 match. The Tigers dropped the third set 25-23. North Alabama grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that was knotted up seven times before the Lions took over the lead
SET 4 | Tennessee State then responded to claim the match win with a 25-19 fourth-set victory. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to secure the victory. Tennessee State opened up as much as a seven-point lead at 23-16 before closing out the stanza, totaling 17 kills in the process. Tennessee State also supplemented their offense with three aces in the set.
The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday evening, as Ohio Valley Conference play is set to begin. TSU will take on UT Martin on the road. First serve from Martin is set for 7:00 p.m.
