NASHVILLE — The Tennessee State football will return home for its first of three straight home games as they will welcome Norfolk State into Nissan Stadium for homecoming this Saturday. The Tigers aim for their fifth straight homecoming win as they host the Spartans, which marks the second HBCU opponent the TSU will face this season.

SERIES INFORMATION: This will be just the second-ever matchup between TSU and NSU. The two HBCU foes first met 51 years again in 19721 as the Tigers came away with the 56-6 win.

th homecoming win last season as they took down Bethune-Cookman 41-17.
4: The number of homecoming wins that TSU has in a row. The Tigers have won four straight homecoming matchups dating back to 2018. TSU took down Tennessee Tech 41-14 in 2018, Austin Peay 26-24 in 2019, Murray State 27-21 in 2021, and BCU last season.

Eddie George has at TSU. George has won both of his homecoming contests (2021, 2022), and will aim for his third straight on Saturday against Norfolk.
1.5: The number of sacks that true freshman
Eriq George finished with against Kennesaw. George had the best game of his young career as he collected his first collegiate sack, followed by a half sack later in the game. The Nashville native recorded his second straight five-tackle game while also adding in 2.0 TFLs and 1.5 sacks.
HOMECOMING SUCCESS: The Tigers have had lots of success when it comes to homecoming matchups. TSU is 70-16-5 all-time when playing on homecoming. The Tiger's first homecoming game was played in 1926, as they tied with Fisk 13-13. TSU and Fisk would have a 0-0 tie in the 1927 homecoming game, followed by three Fisk wins in 1928, 1929, and 1930. TSU's first homecoming win would come in 1931 as they defeated Louisville-Munic 41-0. From 1931 to 1986, the Tigers only lost two homecoming games. TSU had a 21-game homecoming win streak from 1931 to 1960 and then would start a 24-game streak from 1962 to 1986. TSU has won four straight after defeating BCU last season.
GANT BE STOPPED: Redshirt freshman running back
Jordan Gant made the most of his first career start as he got the nod on Saturday afternoon against Kennesaw State. Filling in for an injured
Jalen Rouse, Gant rushed for 105 yards on 18 carries while finding the endzone twice. This marked the first career 100-yard game for the Florida native, and his first two-score game. Gant leads the team with three rushing scores and is second on the squad with 178 rushing yards.
STILL KICKING: James Lowery set a new career long as he knocked through a 51-yard field goal on TSU's first game drive against Kennesaw. The redshirt would follow that up with a 41-yard make in the second quarter. Lowery has now made five straight (all from 40+ yards) dating back to week three. He is 7-of-9 on the year and leads the team with 31 points. His 51-yard make is the longest in the Big South-OVC while his seven makes his tied for the league lead.
BEARD III GOES FOR IV: Linebacker
Monroe Beard III recorded his fourth straight game of 10+ tackles as he finished with 14 against Kennesaw. The first-year Tiger continues to pace the league in total tackles with 63 and in tackles per game with 12.6. Beard finished with 11 tackles against UAPB, 12 versus GWU, 19 against UTM, and then 14 against KSU to make it four straight games.
MAGIC EIGHT BALL: No. 8
Jeremiah Josephs had a magical day as he did a little of everything for the Tiger defense from his safety position. Josephs finished with tackles, an interception, and a sack while also chipping in a QB hurry. The grad student led the charge for a TSU defense that only allowed 12 completions and 144 passing yards while limiting KSU to 261 total yards. The Pittsburgh native is second on the team with 37 tackles.
