Men's Basketball Set for Crosstown Contest at Lipscomb

OPENING TIP: The Tennessee State men's basketball will return to the court tomorrow afternoon as they will travel across town to take on Lipscomb after having a week off. The Tigers last played on December 2 as they took down Austin Peay at home.

SERIES INFORMATION: Sunday is the 13th all-time meeting between TSU and Lipscomb with the series being tied at 6-6 after the Tigers picked up a 90-85 win in last year's contest.

3: The number of TSU players that now have 100 points this season. E.J. Bellinger leads the team with 121 points and is now joined by Christian Brown (103) and Kinyon Hodges (102). Jaylen Jones (98) and Marcus Fitzgerald Jr. (94) are knocking on the door. 

18: The number of points Marcus Fitzgerald Jr. Scored against the Govs. His 18 points marked a new season-high as he is averaging 10.4 points per outing.

69: Head coach Brian "Penny" Collins is just one win away from career win number 70 at TSU after picking up win number 69 in a nice 69-65 home win over Austin Peay.

BACK-TO-BACK: Jaylen Jones earned his second straight Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week award after he was named Co-Freshman of the Week. Jones repeated as FOTW after averaging 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game in a pair of contests against Alabama A&M and Austin Peay.
 
KNOCK EM' DOWN: The Tigers shot a season-high 35 free throws against APSU and knocked down a season-high 24 of their attempts. Christian Brown went a perfect 9-of-9 from the line while Michael Shanks finished 8-of-10 from the charity stripe. Brown leads the team in attempts and makes as he is 32-of-38 on the year.
 
GREEN LIGHT: E.J. Bellinger leads the team with 15 made threes this season. The Belmont grad transfer is shooting 45 percent beyond the arc as he is 15-of-33 on the year.
