NASHVILLE. Tenn.- Champions are made in the offseason is a familiar saying. What teams do during their time away from games shows what happens when they are on the field or court. The Ohio Valley Conference volleyball champion Tennessee State Tigers have participated in community service activities to build camaraderie and give back.
This year, the team has volunteered in 11 team-organized events and individual volunteer service projects. These events include feeding the homeless, coaching volleyball clinics, preparing food boxes, and stocking shelves at Second Harvest. For Nashville native
Hadley Pride, this is a valuable experience for her to give back. She takes pride in helping her community and building synergy with her teammates.
"It means something to give back to a community that gave you so much," said the Hillsboro alum Pride. "From making boxes full of fresh fruits and vegetables with Second Harvest Food Bank to feed families to teaching younger kids how to play volleyball in elementary and middle schools around the city, volunteering this year has been a fun and eye-opening experience. Doing community service has emphasized values that have been instilled in our team. It was just a good opportunity to put those values into practice."
