NASHVILLE — The Tennessee State volleyball team fell to the SIUE in four sets (21-25, 25-19, 19-25, 17-25) Friday at Kean Hall.
The loss dropped Tennessee State's record to 4-14 overall and 0-5 in OVC action.
Maggie Keenan finished with 12 kills on the day to lead the Tigers attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .29. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Hadley Pride had 22 and Celestial Miller had 12.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Tigers fell behind early, dropping the first set 25-21. SIUE never surrendered the lead in a set that was knotted up seven times before the Cougars took control.
SET 2 | Tennessee State responded to pick up a 25-19 victory in the second set, evening the match at one set apiece. Pinpoint serving helped the Tigers grab the set win. Tennessee State notched five aces in the set win. The Tigers ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the stanza. Tennessee State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four SIUE attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | SIUE responded to win set number three, putting Tennessee State in a two sets to one hole. The Tigers fell in a tough set 25-19. Tennessee State trailed by as many as six points as SIUE grabbed the advantage for good at 13-12 in a set that was tied up four times before the Cougars took over the lead.
SET 4 | Tennessee State then dropped the fourth set 25-17 to finish off the match. The Tigers fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before falling in the set.
