Women's Basketball Falls 68-46 to Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Tennessee State women's basketball team got a 15-point performance from the bench, but fell 68-46 to the Little Rock Trojans on the road Thursday.

Sanaa' St. Andre led the Tigers (9-18, 6-11) with 16 points. Saniah Parker also added nine points and two steals and Zyion Shannon chipped in as well with eight points off the bench.

Led by Diamond Cannon's three offensive rebounds, Tennessee State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 13 boards that resulted in four second-chance points.

Tennessee State forced 18 Little Rock turnovers while committing 16 themselves in Thursday's game. The Tigers turned those takeaways into 17 points on the other end of the floor. Parker's two steals led the way for Tennessee State.

How It Happened

Tennessee State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 18-6 at the end of the first quarter.

The Tigers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 34-21 halftime deficit.

Tennessee State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Tigers faced a 54-36 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Tennessee State knocked down two three-pointers in the quarter to score six of its 15 total points.

Little Rock kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 65-40 advantage before Tennessee State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Cannon's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 65-45 with 2:03 to go in the contest. Little Rock responded and outscored the Tigers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 68-46. Tennessee State took advantage of five Little Rock turnovers in the quarter, scoring five points off of those takeaways.
