FLORENCE, Ala. – The Tennessee State women's tennis team traveled to Alabama on Saturday afternoon and fell 6-1 to North Alabama.  
 
The Tigers played the Lions close in the doubles portion of play despite not earning the point. Natalie Walsh / Aroa Arrieta Castillo fell 1-6 at No. 3 while Perri Howard / Warona Mdlulwa were edged 4-6 at No. 1. Louise Ratiu / Jovana Nikolic were trailing by a point at. No. 2 when their match went unfinished.
 
Mdlulwa picked up the lone win of the afternoon at the No. 1 singles spot with a 2-6, 6-0, 1-0 win. Castillo played a tight match in the five slot as she fell 4-6, 3-6.
 
"It was good to play outside," stated coach Steve Brooks. "We started well in doubles then fell behind at one and two. In singles, we needed to be willing to slow it down and make it a match."
 
The Tigers will be back in action this Saturday as they will face Bellarmine on the road in Kentucky.
