HONOLULU, O'ahu - Despite picking up five hits in the ballgame and out-hitting Hawaii, Tennessee State was unable to push across more runs, as the Tigers were defeated by the Rainbow Wahine 4-1 on Thursday evening.
Junior Caitlyn Manus (2-4) got the ball to start for Tennessee State (6-7) and took the loss. Sophomore Holly Ayala was a bright spot for the Tigers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two shutout innings, allowing two hits.
Sophomore Jasmine Blackburn led the way offensively for the Tigers, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 4-0, the Tigers first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Tennessee State got an RBI single from Blackburn, scoring senior Nahtali Simpson from second base. The Tigers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
