CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Senior Rylie Giddens had two hits, but it was not enough to push the Tennessee State Tigers over the top in their 4-3 loss to the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks on Sunday afternoon.
Junior Caitlyn Manus (8-6) started and took the loss in the circle for Tennessee State (15-14, 6-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tigers were trailing 2-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Giddens came across to score the lone run of the inning for Tennessee State and get them on the board.
The Redhawks expanded their lead to 3-1 before the Tigers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fourth. Senior Anayah Baker-Rowell came across to score the lone run of the inning for Tennessee State, which tightened the Redhawks lead to 3-2.
Southeast Missouri State expanded their lead to 4-2 before the Tennessee State offense got going, reducing that lead to 4-3 in the fifth. The Tigers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
