Women's Tennis Season Comes to Close With Loss in OVC Semifinals

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Tennessee State women's tennis team saw their season come to an end as they were defeated by SEMO 4-0 in the semifinals of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament on Saturday morning. The Tigers finish the season 5-20 (2-4 OVC). 

The contest commenced with doubles play, where TSU encountered a tough battle. Despite their efforts, the Tigers were unable to secure a victory in any of the doubles matches. SEMO emerged triumphant in both the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots, claiming the victories with scores of 6-1 and 6-3, respectively.

Transitioning to singles competition, TSU faced an uphill challenge against a determined SEMO lineup. Warona Mdlulwa fought fiercely in the No. 1 singles spot but was ultimately bested by her opponent in straight sets, with a final score of 6-2, 6-2. Similarly, Franka Sindicic fell short in the No. 2 singles match, with SEMO securing a commanding 6-3, 6-1 victory.

As the competition progressed, the Tigers continued to battle, but SEMO's strength prevailed. Jovana Nikolic represented TSU in the No. 6 singles spot, where she displayed grit and determination. Despite her efforts, Nikolic was unable to secure a victory, ultimately succumbing to her opponent in straight sets with a final score of 6-0, 6-3.
