EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Tennessee State softball team struggled on Sunday, falling to the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles 8-2 in its final road game of the regular season.
Caitlyn Manus (11-11) got the start for Tennessee State (24-22, 15-9) and took the loss.
At the plate, the Tigers were paced by Alexis Woods and Kaylin Jean-Baptiste, who both went 1-for-2 on the day with a walk.
Laila Armstrong and Jasmine Blackburn both had sacrifice hits to log an RBI a piece.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 4-0, the Tigers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Woods came across to score the lone run of the inning for Tennessee State and get them on the board.
The Tigers kept the deficit at 4-1 before closing the gap further in the fourth. Junior Ryla Traylor came across to score the lone run of the inning for Tennessee State, which brought the score to 4-2 in favor of the Screaming Eagles. The Tigers were unable to get any closer, as Southern Indiana added four runs to their tally on the way to an 8-2 final.
