PEORIA, Ill. - The Tennessee State softball team saw its 2024 season come to a close after falling 4-1 to Southern Indiana in game nine of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. TSU finished the tournament with a 2-2 record, which led to the Tigers claiming their first winning season since 2007 (26-25, 15-10 OVC).
Caitlyn Manus started and took the loss in the circle for Tennessee State. Manus struck out seven, walked two, and gave up four runs, all of which were in the first inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
USI put up four runs in the top of the first and the game would remain scoreless until the Tigers put runs on the board in the seventh inning. Onnika Spencer put Tennessee State on the board with a one-out solo home run off the OVC Co-Pitcher of the year Josie Newman. The Tigers could not muster any more runs in the inning and ended up falling 4-1.
