TUCSON, Ariz. — The Tennessee State volleyball team lost to the Arizona Wildcats in straight sets (22-25, 19-25, 14-25) Sunday on the road at McKale Center.
The non-conference loss moved Tennessee State to 0-2 on the season.
Celestial Miller finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Tigers offense. Miller was also named to the Cactus Classic All-Tournament Team. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Hadley Pride had 16 and Miller had 10.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Tigers found themselves in an early deficit, losing the first set 25-22. Arizona grabbed the advantage for good at 22-21 in a set that was tied up six times before the Wildcats took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | Tennessee State dropped set two 25-19, digging a 2-0 deficit in the match. Tennessee State trailed by as many as six points as Arizona grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 in a set that was tied up two times before the Wildcats took over the lead.
SET 3 | Arizona finished off the sweep with a third-set victory. The Lady Tigers fell in a tough set 25-14. Tennessee State trailed by as many as 11 points as Arizona grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that was knotted up six times before the Wildcats took over the lead.
