NASHVILLE — Tennessee State looks to rebound after a tough Week 2 loss to No. 2 North Dakota State as it heads to the 35th annual Southern Heritage Classic. The Tigers will face Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis.

SERIES INFORMATION: This will be the eighth meeting between Tennessee State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff, dating back to 1923 (score unknown). TSU leads the series 5-1 after a 24-14 victory last year in the Southern Heritage Classic. The first known score was a 50-20 win for the Tigers at Booker T. Washington Field, a public secondary school north of downtown Memphis. TSU won the next three games, including the inaugural Bluff City Classic at Crump Field (26-0), the 2012 TSU homecoming game (40-13), and the 2016 John Merritt Classic (44-0). The Tigers' only loss was a 37-31 defeat at Hale Stadium in 2019.

Draylen Ellis passed for over 100 yards. Through two games, Ellis has 484 passing yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Against North Dakota State, Ellis completed 17 of 25 passes and ran for 27 yards on 11 attempts.
