SAINT CHARLES, MO — The Tennessee State men's basketball team fell to Lindenwood, 72-62, on the road Thursday.
The Tigers (5-11, 1-4 OVC) had four players score in double figures, led by Josh Ogundele, who had 14 points and eight rebounds. Brandon Weston tacked on 14 points, four assists and two steals and Travis Harper II chipped in as well with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Tennessee State out-rebounded Lindenwood 43-39 in Thursday's game, led by eight boards from Ogundele. The Tigers also grabbed 13 offensive rebounds and scored 14 second chance points.
The Tennessee State defense held Lindenwood shooters to only 38.7 percent from the field. The Tigers also kept Markeith Browning II to 3-of-13 shooting and 10 points in the game.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 7-5 advantage, Tennessee State went on a 7-0 run with 16:16 left in the first half to increase its lead to 14-5. The Tigers then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 34-29 advantage. Tennessee State capitalized on six Lindenwood turnovers in the period, turning them into 10 points on the other end of the floor.
Lindenwood proceeded to take a 59-50 lead before Tennessee State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Travis Harper Ii's three, to shrink the deficit to 59-55 with 5:14 to go in the contest. Lindenwood responded and outscored the Tigers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 72-62. Tennessee State took care of business in the paint, recording 18 of its 28 points in the lane.
