Tigers Set for Midweek Road Test at Middle Tennessee

10/6/2025 4:32:00 PM

NASHVILLE — Tennessee State continues its non-conference slate with an in-state matchup at Middle Tennessee on Tuesday night. First serve is set for 6 p.m. CT at Alumni Memorial Gym in Murfreesboro.

The Tigers look to build momentum on the road behind a balanced offense led by outside hitters Aliyah Harris and Melae Lacy, while senior middle blocker Maygan Miller-Garcia provides a steady presence at the net. Senior setter Sagaia Reilly continues to guide the attack and pace TSU's service game, and libero Eirini Bitsaktsi anchors the back row with consistent passing and defense.

TSU aims to translate its recent offensive rhythm into another strong performance against a familiar foe. The Tigers and Blue Raiders have met sparingly over the years, but each meeting has been competitive. The series dates back to 2016, when Tennessee State claimed a 3-1 victory at Kean Hall. Since then, MTSU has taken the next two contests, including a five-set battle in 2018 that went down to the wire, 15-11, in the final frame.

The Tigers will look to even the all-time series and capture their first win in Murfreesboro. Key for TSU will be controlling first contact, creating clean transition swings, and maintaining pressure from the service line to keep MTSU off balance.

After Tuesday's contest, Tennessee State returns to Ohio Valley Conference play later this week.
