Men’s Tennis Earns Hard-Fought Victory Over Lipscomb

NASHVILLE —  The Tennessee State men's tennis team secured a strong 4-3 victory over Lipscomb on Monday afternoon at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center. The Tigers dominated in doubles and claimed four singles wins to notch their second victory of the season.

The Tigers set the tone early with an impressive showing in doubles. The No. 2 pairing of Taj Hibbert and James Adler Germinal cruised past Antoine Testaud and Oskar Szymczak, 6-1, while Jonasz Dziopak and Alexander Adamec delivered a commanding 6-2 win over Oliver Thoeny and Giovanni Ciocca at No. 3.

At No. 1 doubles, Tatenda Mutetwa and Rohan Loubser were locked in a close battle against Facundo Perlov and Juan Lombisano, but the match was left unfinished with Lipscomb leading 5-4. However, with two wins secured, TSU claimed the doubles point and took an early 1-0 lead in the match.

The Tigers carried their doubles momentum into singles, where Jonasz Dziopak dominated at the No. 1 spot, defeating Oskar Szymczak 6-1, 6-3. Taj Hibbert followed with another strong performance, taking down Giovanni Ciocca 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

At No. 6 singles, Christopher Bogelin delivered a key win for the Tigers, securing a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Oliver Thoeny, pushing TSU closer to the match win.

The deciding match came down to No. 3 singles, where James Adler Germinal battled hard against Juan Lombisano in a marathon contest. Germinal forced a tiebreak in the second set but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-7 (9), 1-0 (11).

Lipscomb secured two additional wins, with Facundo Perlov edging out Alexander Adamec at No. 4 in another third-set tiebreak, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10), and Antoine Testaud defeating Nicholas Adamec 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5.
