NASHVILLE— Tennessee State pushed Idaho to the brink in a five-set battle at Kean Hall on Friday night, falling just short in a 3-2 decision (20-25, 26-24, 18-25, 25-22, 11-15).
The Tigers showed resilience throughout the nonconference contest, clawing back twice to extend the match before the Vandals escaped with the final frame. The effort dropped TSU to 1-9, but the Tigers put together one of their most balanced performances of the season.
Offensive Leaders
Maygan Miller-Garcia led the charge with 18 kills while hitting an impressive .395. Melae Lacy added 13 kills and Carsyn Stansberry chipped in 12, giving TSU three players in double figures. Freshman setter Sagaia Reilly fueled the attack with a match-high 44 assists, keeping the offense in rhythm across all five sets.
Defensive Standouts
On the defensive end, libero Erini Bitsaktsi anchored the back row with a match-best 20 digs. At the net, Gabriella Blevins totaled seven blocks while Aliyah Harris added five. Stansberry also made her presence felt at the service line, finishing with a team-high four aces.
