Volleyball Hosts Former OVC Foe Austin Peay Tuesday Night

9/22/2025 11:29:00 AM

NASHVILLE – Tennessee State volleyball returns to Kean Hall on Tuesday evening to square off with former Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

The Tigers (1-10) look to build momentum in the homestand behind experienced leadership. Senior middle blocker Maygan Miller-Garcia paced TSU with seven kills in the team's last outing, while senior setter Sagaia Reilly continues to guide the offense, averaging more than seven assists per set. Defensively, Erini Bitsaktsi and Sydni Poston anchor the back row, combining for more than 200 digs on the season. Junior outside hitter Aliyah Harris leads the Tigers with over 3.0 kills per set, providing consistent scoring from the pins.

Although Austin Peay (record TBD) holds the upper hand historically in the series, Tennessee State has made its mark against the Governors in recent years. The Tigers swept APSU at Kean Hall in 2017 and have pushed three of the last six meetings to five sets, underscoring the competitive nature of the rivalry.

By the Numbers

  • 3.0 – Kills per set from Harris, who has tallied double figures in four matches.

  • 7.2 – Assists per set from Reilly, highlighted by a season-best 36 at the Belmont Invitational.

  • 3.8 – Digs per set for Poston, who notched 21 in a match earlier this month.

  • 100 – Sutton recently celebrated her 100th career win at Tennessee State.
