Women's Basketball Falls to Lindenwood

SAINT CHARLES, MO --The Tennessee State women's basketball team got a 26-point showing from the bench, but fell 91-58 to the Lindenwood (MO) Lions on the road Saturday.

The Lady Tigers (3-16, 2-8) had three players score in double figures, led by Somah Kamara, who had 13 points. Brianna Wooldridge added 11 points off of the bench and Xai Whitfield helped out with 10 points.

How It Happened

After playing to a 2-2 tie early in the game, Tennessee State went on a 6-0 run with 8:06 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Amiyah Ferguson, to take an 8-2 lead. The Lady Tigers then surrendered that lead and entered the second quarter down 24-18.

Lindenwood (MO) kept adding to that lead, building a 30-20 advantage before Tennessee State went on a 6-0 run, highlighted by a three from Whitfield, to narrow its deficit to 30-26. Lindenwood (MO) responded and expanded its lead, leaving the Lady Tigers trailing 40-28 heading into halftime.

Tennessee State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Lady Tigers faced a 65-42 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Tennessee State knocked down two three-pointers in the quarter to score six of its 14 total points.

Lindenwood (MO) kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing an 83-46 advantage before Tennessee State went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Erin Martin's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 83-52 with 3:11 to go in the contest. Lindenwood (MO) responded and outscored the Lady Tigers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 91-58. Tennessee State took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 14 of its 16 points in the paint.
