EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Tennessee State men's tennis team secured a tightly contested 4-3 victory over Southern Indiana on Friday afternoon, using a strong start in doubles play and clutch performances in singles competition.
DOUBLES POINT
The Tigers claimed the doubles point by winning two of three matches.
Alexander Adamec and James Adler Germinal struck first with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Southern Indiana responded with a victory at No. 1 doubles, but Tennessee State answered as Nicholas Adamec and Tatenda Mutetwa battled to a 7-6 win at No. 2 doubles to seal the opening point.
SINGLES PLAY
Tennessee State earned three singles victories to clinch the match.
Taj Hibbert dominated at No. 1 singles with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win to extend the Tiger lead. Southern Indiana claimed points at No. 2 and No. 4 singles to even the match, but TSU responded late.
Alexander Adamec delivered a key victory at No. 5 singles (6-4, 6-2), and Christopher Bogelin secured the match-clinching point with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
The final match at No. 3 singles went to Southern Indiana in three sets.
