NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee State men's tennis team fell 5-2 to Lipscomb on Tuesday afternoon at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center.
Tennessee State moved to 3-15 overall on the season, while Lipscomb improved to 11-10.
DOUBLES PLAY
Lipscomb secured the early doubles point by winning two of three matches. The Bisons claimed victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, while Tennessee State picked up a win at the No. 3 position as James Adler Germinal and Alexander Adamec earned a 6-4 victory over Oskar Szymczak and Henrique Ushizima.
SINGLES COMPETITION
The Tigers collected two singles wins on the day. Taj Hibbert delivered a strong performance at No. 1 singles, defeating Facundo Perlov in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Tatenda Mutetwa added Tennessee State's second point with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles over Alex Vlahos.
Lipscomb secured the team victory with wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles in straight sets. The final match of the afternoon came at No. 6 singles, where Christopher Bogelin pushed Oliver Thoeny to a deciding super tiebreak before falling 6-2, 7-6 (14-12).
Tennessee State will look to bounce back in its next outing as the Tigers continue spring competition.
