Men's Basketball Adds Christian Alston from Abilene Christian

NASHVILLE — Tennessee State men's basketball signed guard Christian Alston from Abilene Christian, head coach Nolan Smith announced.

Alston appeared in 51 career games over two seasons with the Wildcats, averaging 4.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in 10.1 minutes per game with eight double-figure scoring performances.

During the 2025-26 season, Alston played in 30 games, averaging 4.7 points and 1.9 rebounds in 11.2 minutes per game. He shot 48-for-139 (34.5%) from the field, 10-for-45 (22.2%) from 3-point range and 34-for-49 (69.4%) from the free-throw line while adding 0.5 steals and 0.2 blocks per game. He totaled 140 points and 58 rebounds, including 18 offensive boards. His top performances included a career-high 18 points on 5-of-13 shooting with 6-of-7 from the free-throw line at Utah Valley, 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting with 3-of-4 from 3-point range against UTSA, and 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting in the season opener against McMurry. He added 11 points against Southern Utah and 10 points against William & Mary, while also posting eight rebounds at California Baptist and multiple three-steal games, including at Arizona and Utah Valley.

In the 2024-25 season, Alston appeared in 23 games, averaging 4.0 points and 1.7 rebounds in 8.6 minutes per game. He shot 27-for-69 (39.1%) from the field and 9-for-22 (40.9%) from 3-point range while converting 30-for-37 (81.1%) from the free-throw line. He totaled 93 points and 38 rebounds with 10 assists, 10 steals and six blocks. His top performances included 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting with four assists against Hardin-Simmons, 10 points at Grand Canyon and nine points in his collegiate debut against Howard Payne.

Across two seasons, Alston averaged 1.4 made field goals per game while adding 0.3 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.2 blocks per contest.

A native of Bartlett, Tennessee, Alston was rated a three-star prospect and the No. 3 player in the state by 247Sports. He scored more than 1,000 career points at Bartlett High School and was a McDonald's All-American nominee, helping lead the program to District 15-4A, state and sub-state championships in 2022 and 2024.
