Men's Basketball Signs Former Overtime Elite Guard Daniel Vieira-Tuck

NASHVILLE — Tennessee State men's basketball signed guard Daniel Vieira-Tuck following stops at NAIA Texas A&M-Texarkana, Overtime Elite and professional basketball in Portugal, head coach Nolan Smith announced.

Vieira-Tuck, a 6-foot-4 guard from Arlington, Texas, originally signed with Memphis before deciding to play for Overtime Elite. He was later expected to return to Memphis before transferring to Texas A&M-Texarkana during the season.

Vieira-Tuck appeared in seven games with six starts at Texas A&M-Texarkana during the 2025-26 season, averaging 13.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 steals in 24.3 minutes per game. He shot 39.8 percent (33-for-83) from the field and scored in double figures five times.

His top performances included 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting against LSU Shreveport, 17 points against LSU Alexandria, 16 points against Southwest and 14 points against UNT Dallas. He also added 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting in a road win over Louisiana Christian. Vieira-Tuck totaled 94 points, 29 rebounds, 13 assists and 10 steals during his seven-game stretch from Dec. 11 through Jan. 8.

Before arriving at Texas A&M-Texarkana, Vieira-Tuck spent part of the 2024-25 season with Overtime Elite's Diamond Doves, averaging 2.2 points, 1.5 assists and 1.4 rebounds in 9.5 minutes per game. He posted six points on 2-of-3 shooting against YNG Dreamerz, five points against Cold Hearts and multiple games with three assists, including outings against Fear of God Athletics and RWE. He also recorded four rebounds against Fear of God Athletics and averaged 9.3 points, 6.3 assists and 5.9 rebounds per 40 minutes.

Vieira-Tuck also played professionally with S.L. Benfica in Portugal, averaging 9.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. Internationally, he represented Portugal at the 2023 FIBA U20 European Championship, averaging 14.5 points, 4.3 steals and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 57.1 percent from the field against Hungary and 46.7 percent against Great Britain. He scored 20 points with seven steals against Great Britain, added 18 points against Hungary and posted 15 points against Luxembourg. Across tournament play, he totaled 16 steals in four games played.

Before playing professionally overseas, Vieira-Tuck competed at Colorado Prep, BigTyme Sports Prep and Mansfield Timberview High School.
