Throughout the summer months leading up to the Tennessee State University Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet on Aug. 27, Tennessee State Athletics will highlight the members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2026. This distinguished group of former student-athletes, coaches, administrators and contributors helped shape the proud tradition of Tiger athletics through championship performances, individual achievements and lasting contributions to the university. Their stories reflect the excellence, perseverance and impact that have defined Tennessee State Athletics across generations.


Frankie Allen | Men's Basketball Coach | 1991-2000

Head coach at Tennessee State 1991 to 2000. In 1993, he was the Ohio Valley Conference and Basketball Times National Coach of the Year after leading Tennessee State to a 15-win improvement, which was the best in the entire country. He also led the Tigers to an OVC Championship and the school's first post-season appearance. Allen led Tennessee State to a second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in 1994.  In 1995, he was named OVC Co-Coach of the Year, leading his squad to their third-straight conference crown.  He coached two-time OVC Player of the Year and NBA Draftee Carlos Rogers.
