BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — Tennessee State freshman setter Triniti Jackson was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.

The honor is the first weekly award of Jackson's collegiate career and Tennessee State's first OVC weekly volleyball award of the season.

"Triniti has so much more to give to the sport," head coach Donika Sutton said. "She is exciting to watch, and she is a true competitor. I'm excited to see how she continues to evolve in the OVC."

Jackson totaled 81 assists, 25 digs, 10 kills and seven blocks over 11 sets against North Alabama and Evansville. She averaged 7.36 assists and 2.27 digs per set while hitting .333 with only one attacking error on 27 attempts.

The Longview, Texas, native delivered the best performance of her young career Thursday against Evansville at Kean Hall. Jackson recorded her first collegiate double-double with career highs of 36 assists and 13 digs while adding seven kills on 16 error-free attacks for a .438 hitting percentage. She also contributed two blocks as the Tigers pushed the Purple Aces in four tightly contested sets.

Jackson followed that performance with 29 assists, four digs, two kills, two blocks and a service ace in Saturday's road rematch at Evansville. She helped direct a TSU offense that hit .375 during its second-set victory.

The 5-foot-8 freshman opened the week with 16 assists, eight digs and three blocks against North Alabama.

Jackson has taken on an increased role in Tennessee State's offense during her first collegiate season and has established herself as the Tigers' primary setter.

Tennessee State returns to action Wednesday when the Tigers travel to Clarksville to face Austin Peay at 6 p.m.
